Gold is rising

April 18, 2011 by: January Thomas

For the past few years now I have been reading articles about gold and if it will hit the 1500 mark. The price of gold has steadily increased for the past 3+ years.
Gold has been hanging around the 1495 mark for the greater part of today. Will gold actually reach 1500? I guess we will have to wait and see!

Golden Girl

Spring and summer are around the corner … what better way to celebrate than with a golden shimmer? Get your glow on with some shimmering highlights – always in style! If your hair is on the mousey side, everything will seem brighter and sunnier just this side of blonde. If you’re already blonde, boost it up a little with something extra. Accessorize and voila! You are ready to hit the beach or the club – as soon as the weather cooperates.

If you don’t have the cash to head to the salon, throw a My Gold Party, and you’ll have plenty of cash for an entire day at the spa in no time! Visit www.mygoldparty.com for details.

It’s that time of year again. Tax Season calls for a Tax Party

February 9, 2011 by: January Thomas

April 15th is closer than you think. We’re all scrambling to get our taxes

done and it will go one-way or the other – We hope to receive a nice tax return but we’re dreading the notice to send more money to Uncle Sam.

Don’t get caught with the latter. Have a gold party to cover the cost and if you don’t have to pay, use it to play or buy yourself something nice.

Check out mygoldparty.com for reps in the area or send us an e-mail.

We promise it will be the best tax party ever!

A Golden Moment

Natalie Portman Pirouetted Stage Left with a Golden Globe

The former Star Wars queen was a stunner in her pink satin gown, but her dramatic role in “Black Swan” won her a Golden Globe. Usually Portman plays the darling roles, but this action-packed psycho-drama summoned critics raves.

Even more golden was her admission of love to her co-star, whose baby she was incubating beneath her stunning wardrobe.

The Globes Were Golden

January 18, 2011 by: January Thomas

There’s no doubt the red carpet was full of colorful style last night at the Golden Globe Awards, but we have a few favorites!

  1. Anne Hathaway’s rose gold gown by Armani Prive is a 24k stunner.
  2. Emma Stone’s golden glow in coral Calvin Klein is sheer perfection.
  3. Kyra Sedgwick’s golden accessories: Ofira 18kt yellow gold diamond bangles, a milky emerald and diamond cuff and VBH clutch.

We can’t wait to see how Hollywood dazzles us during awards season and you can bet we’ll let you know who struck gold!

Gold as currency, gold as cash

July 28, 2010 by: January Thomas

The appeal of gold is obvious. Its bright yellow color and shiny luster have been considered dazzling since the dawn of civilization. It’s also the most malleable and ductile pure metal known to man and doesn’t oxidize in air or water.

Gold has served as a symbol of wealth throughout history. As such, many countries have tied their currency to a “gold standard,” meaning all its currency is backed by reserves of pure gold bricks.

However, the amount of gold in the world is finite and production has not grown in relation to the world’s economies. Most countries, including the U.S., have gone off the gold standard, because there just isn’t enough of it to back all our currency.

All these factors have created the perfect storm for those wanting to sell their gold. The price of gold has nearly doubled just in the last five years. So, now is the time to get rid of any gold jewelry that you don’t either wear or want to keep for sentimental value.

The good news is that it’s easy and fun to sell your gold and platinum jewelry. My Gold Party has local reps ready to help you throw your own home gold party. You supply the guests and the old gold jewelry, and you’ll all go home a little richer. Just for selling the gold jewelry you’re never going to wear again anyway!

Just go to MyGoldParty.com to learn more about how to host your own gold party or become a My Gold Party rep.

Interesting Gold

January 21, 2010 by: January Thomas

A question I get asked quite often is – “What is the most interesting piece you have ever purchased?” Or “When people sell gold, what is the craziest piece you have ever seen?”

Many of you may have seen the news piece from Good Morning America where I talk about the dentures I purchased from a customer. These dentures were willed down to her – And she was in turn willing them down to her granddaughter. Instead of passing the dentures down, she thought she would turn them into something useful!

Recently, (and this may not have the “wow-factor” the dentures had) but I came across a charm bracelet. Obviously this woman had been collecting charms for quite sometime. This bracelet had about 25-30 charms total! She collected them on her many travels, received them as gifts (for birthdays, anniversarys) Some even pertained to her job – she displayed on the bracelet an adorable little typewriter. The customer wanted to give this bracelet and her other gold jewelry to her daughters. Unfortunately, none of them wanted to wear any of it…They told her to sell the gold and do something she would enjoy with the money.

I wonder what she did end up doing with the money…? I hope it was another great trip somewhere!

Sell Gold For the Holidays!

December 14, 2009 by: January Thomas

With less than two weeks until Christmas, everyone is busy decorating, shopping and wrapping presents. I am almost done with my shopping, however I am trying to figure out what dessert dish to bring on Christmas Eve. (Any good suggestions?)

The last few weeks I have met up one-on-one with quite a few people so they may sell gold to me. It still amazes me after a few years of doing this that I see the same kind of pieces over and over. Rope chains, nugget bracelets and rings, tons of gold charms, old rings, missing gold hoop earrings. These items haven’t been worn in over a decade (or more!) and people are cashing in at a great time. Out with the old and in with the new!

To meet up with a rep in your area (or host a party), click here to view what reps are in your state. If you would like to send your gold in direct to us, please click here.

Any questions on how to sell gold? Please do not hesitate to call 888-44-MYGOLD or email us: Info@mygoldparty.com

Looking forward to seeing your old gold rope chains!

Class Rings – Gold or Not Gold?

December 9, 2009 by: January Thomas

We seem to get this question quite a bit – “Are class rings gold?” The answer to that question is – “Maybe…” Here is how you can tell:

If your class ring is gold, it should be stamped/marked on the inside. Most class rings are a standard 10 karat gold. Those class rings that are not gold will not be stamped on the inside with a karat marking.

There are some class rings that appear to be white gold, however they are not stamped on the inside. More often than not, these rings are siladium – which is a trademark for a stainless steel alloy which is typically used in high school and college class rings. They are not gold and we do not purchase these types of class rings.
